Graduate Student in Classics

About

Michael's love for the Classics made him the first undergraduate student since the mid 1980s to major in Classics and read Greek and Latin at the University of Ghana, Legon. He is currently studying for an MPhil in Classics at the University of Ghana, where he graduated as a Classics Major in 2010. That same year, his undergraduate thesis on Socratic Ethics was published in a refereed journal, and he pioneered the formation of the Classics Students' Association to sustain interest in the study of Classics at the University of Ghana and beyond.

In addition to his immediate academic goals, Michael is seeking an opportunity for a year abroad to study and improve upon his level of Ancient Greek and Latin before he enrolls in a PhD programme in Classics. Michael has interests in Homeric literature and the parallels between the cosmological and theological ideas of the Presocratics and the New Testament authors.

When he is not researching or completing an assignment for class, Michael loves to read, write, blog, and chat with friends.
